Lake Conjola (3/2/12 - 6/2/12)

On Friday we left Batemans Bay and headed 80kms north to Lake Conjola.  Unfortunately it rained all the way and into the night.  Despite the rain, we fell in love with Lake Conjola.  A beautiful small town with a lovely lake and beach.  We were lucky to get a site right on the lake.  We kept getting told by people staying there, who had been holidaying at Lake Conjola for the last 40 years, we were very lucky to get such a great site.  We definitely were.

On Saturday the sun was shining and it was a beautiful, warm day.  The lake was even better in sunshine.  We made the most of the weather and hired a boat for the morning.  We all caught fish and the excitement on Ben and Chloe's faces was priceless.  The kids enjoyed having a steer of the boat, even if we did go around in circles a few times.

Fish and chips for tea and then a great walk along the lake to the beach.  Such a contrast from the calm, shallow waters of the lake to the big waves of the ocean.  Heaps of hermit crabs, stingrays and whiting.

Another glorious day on Sunday - the sun was shining brightly again - yippee!  A nice morning walk along the lake in the opposite direction.  Then a refreshing swim across to the sandbar for a cool down.

The grey nomads were out in force at Lake Conjola, all very friendly and happy to have a chat.  We would have loved to stay longer, but someone was moving onto our site.  So rather than move sites we decided to move on, heading north towards Sydney.

Lake Conjola has definitely been a favourite for us all.

Where to next?  Jervis Bay or Kiama.....
