From Jervis Bay we kept heading north and decided because of the weather we would continue onto Sydney, arriving about 4ish. Once again Simon did very well at getting us safe and sound to the caravan park, despite driving through Sydney traffic, timed perfectly with school finish time and Donna navigating him around the long way!
We stayed at the Lane Cove Caravan Park, which is in the Lane Cove National Park, just north of the city. A beautiful spot and less than a kilometre walk to the train station, so a perfect spot to get in and out of the city from. Although after a week of walking to and from the train station every day, we are all happy that we don’t need to do that again for a while!
We stayed in Sydney from 6th February for 9 nights and loved it. We were out doing something every day, so a bit faster pace than the rest of our holiday. So much to see and do. Where to start…………
On Tuesday we tested our skills at catching Sydney public transport and made our way by train to Milson’s Point. From there we walked over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The kids were so excited to finally see “the bridge” and to be on it. Then that beautiful view of the harbour, Opera House, Circular Quay etc. WOW! Just love it. Wandered through the Rocks, down to Circular Quay and then onto the ferry to Manly. The ferry trip home was memorable as we got a bit wet when we hit a rough patch coming through the heads. We were lucky we were not right at the front as those people got soaked. Nice walk around the Opera House, Botanic Gardens and Government House. Great first day in the city.
