Barwon Heads - Phillip Island (21/12/11)

On Wednesday we left Barwon Heads, headed for Phillip Island.  Instead of driving up to Melbourne and back down, we caught the car ferry from Queenscliffe (20kms from Barwon Heads) over to Portsea, saving us a few hours of driving.  The kids were very impressed that the caravan, car and all us could all fit on the boat.

Portsea is a beautiful historic town and the playground of Victoria's rich and famous.  The houses were amazing!  And the Portsea Hotel was just beautiful - was a shame it was only 9 in the morning, as it would have been great to have a drink or lunch there.  We did a great walk along one of the beaches, which had private access to each of the houses that joined it and cute little beach huts.  We drove to Portsea's London Bridge and then onto Sorrento, a 2 minute drive away.  Like Portsea, Sorrento is a beautiful town with gorgeous houses.

From Sorrento we headed around the east coast of Port Phillip Bay.  We passed though some beautiful towns - Blairgowrie, Rye, Rosebud, Dromana and headed away from the coast south of Frankston.  We arrived in Phillip Island early afternoon.
