On the way to Canberra from Wagga Wagga we stopped at the Dog on the Tuckerbox, just out of Gundagai. The statue is a monument to the pioneers of the Riverina area. It is believed "the dog" was guarding its master's (driver of a bullock team) food and possessions while the master sought help from being bogged in a river. The master never returned, but the dog continued to guard its masters possessions until it's death.
